Austrian Minister of Transport Reichhardt opened the PRO.Motion.Expo – one of the world’s largest railway exhibitions
Reichhardt visited the fair with ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä and an official delegation of high-ranking representatives of the Austrian railway industry. The Minister opened on 28. August the PRO.Motion.Expo together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Maxim Akimov. This fair is one of the largest railway trade fairs in the world.
Talks between Austrian and Russian officials focused on technology cooperation, as well as cooperation in the field of infrastructure and industrial cooperation.
The Austrian Minister of Transport opened as well the Austrian Technology Day together with the Director General of RZD, Oleg Belozerov, Vladimir Artiakov, Vice CEO Rostekh and ÖBB Director General Andreas Matthä. ÖBB is an integral part of the Austrian economy and a reliable partner of the Austrian railway Industry on 29. August 2019. Events such as the Austrian Technology Day promote Austrian technology providers in marketing their products and is based on an initiative of the foreign trade organisation of the WKO and the Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology.
2. International Railway Congress | 26. and 27. March 2020 in Vienna
The Initiator of the International Railway Congress in Vienna, Hubert Jeneral, officially announced the congress date in Moscow
As a part of the Austrian Technology Day Hubert Jeneral, Initiator and President of the International Railway Congress IRC2020 officially announced the 2. International Railway Congress IRC2020. This congress will be held the 26th and 27th March 2020 in Vienna, Austria. This congress, mainly supported by ÖBB, RZD and the BMVIT, is the largest business meeting of its kind for senior managers of rail companies and their related industries, as well as suppliers and customers with an interest in Railway related industry. The Congress will debate and discuss current and future challenges facing rail Transportation.
Approximately 600 high-level delegates from the railway industry, from transport ministries, from international technology providers and supplier as well as representatives from international railway organisations will attend the congress as well as a Gala Dinner.

THE FUTURE OF RAIL CARGO
The INTERNATIONAL RAILWAY CONGRESS 2019 is going to be the largest business meeting of its kind for senior managers of rail companies and related industries, as well as suppliers and customers with an interest primarily in long-distance cargo transport by rail. The Congress will debate and discuss the current and future challenges facing rail transportation. As we look at linking up the great railway networks and systems of the world for sustainable transport of goods by rail, the Congress will debate how existing best practice can point to for sustainable rail infrastructure projects of the future.
FOSTERING INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY,
STANDARDIZATION AND INTEROPERABILITY
The INTERNATIONAL RAILWAY CONGRESS 2019 will look at best practice Public Private Partnerships that promote rail transport and interoperability at a global level, dealing with current and future challenges of transportation and fostering sustainable development.
The congress is devoted to the issues of:
- improving the efficiency of international freight and passenger rail traffic including digital technologies
- using and developing the transit potential of existing international transport corridors
- harmonizing legal and technical regulation of rail transport, for example between Europe and Asia
